no thanks, NKOTB

i have to admit, though i have friends that swear they were obsessed with the new kids when they first hit the block, i pretty much missed the original frenzy that surrounded them- aside from occasionally viewing their cartoon on saturday mornings (i must have been too busy listening to one-hit wonder gems like natural selection's "do anything".) regardless, growing up in the bsb and 'n sync generation, i can relate to the hype. i would mention my hanson obsession, but i respect them more than that, dammit.

anyways, i really thought i'd give them a fair shot when i heard they were attempting a comeback- though my instincts were that it would be a massive failure. errr....okay, so they've been on the today show like three times already. but really, guys? choreographed dancing at your age? besides looking really sad, one of you might break a hip! and the comeback single, "summertime," is pretty atrocious. no one over the age of 20- actually, no one EVER- should utter the words "you had the beauty and the beach on lock." i can understand that some of these 30+ women are trying to reclaim their youth and all, but sometimes it's better to leave well alone and let "step by step" rest in peace where it belongs: in the early 90s.

thumbs down, new kids.

ok I love "summertime" because it's so deliciously cheesy and catchy

however, in the beginning of the song they say "jones beach- 1988"

and then the lyrics are "been a few years..."

a FEW years? Try 20.

Laaaaaaaaaame

hahahaha....i will admit i've caught myself singing to it once or twice because it's on all the friggin' time here! but nice catch on the jones beach line, i never heard that...way too funny. i should have posted the video because it's pretty hilarious too.

You bitches are all stupid. I'm only 24 and I think they are the shit. BSB or NSYNC will never amount to their fame or talent. That's right, old but bumping. You're not going to look that hot when you're in your 30's or 40's. So shut the fuck up...Summer time was the bomb yo!!!

That concert was great. I'm 25 and I agree with the above comment. Summertime is a great single.

easy there, girlies. it's called a sense of humor! i know you think that "us bitches" are hatin' on your men, but i'm just trying to call it for what it is, 'aiight? lighten up, dolls. :)

I agree with the anonymous girlz. You've gotta be stupid bitches to think NKOTB is lame/stupid. Look at madonna, and maria carey they just as old if not older than NKOTB and still singing and they started way back when, not to mention plenty of other singers, look at billy cirus! You girls need a life rather than just slurring NKOTB. It's pretty amazing to pick something back up from twenty years and still have hits....YOUR jelous!!!
But unlike the anonymous girls ill leave my name!!!! PC

I really enjoy the New Kids and their fresh take on the genre. I think their lyrics are thoughtful, well-crafted, and really reflect the playful nature of their souls.

Of course, I'm blind and can only hear out of my left ear, but people say I generally have atrocious taste, so I have that going for me.
